Nevada's statewide energy code for new residential and commercial buildings is based on the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The 2012 IECC became effective in July 2015. Jurisdictions in southern Nevada -- including Clark County and Henderson -- adopted the 2012 Southern Nevada Energy Code, which is based on the 2012 IECC with local amendments; this code came into effect on July 1, 2014. The remaining Southern Nevada communities remained on the 2009 IECC. The City of Reno adopted the 2012 IECC in late 2015. Based on Census data of December 2015, approximately 50% of all construction in the state occurs in communities who have adopted the 2012 IECC.
