Overview

The main electric utility in Wyoming is PacificCorp, an investor-owned utility serving five western states and doing business in Wyoming as Rocky Mountain Power. Rocky Mountain Power serves about 140,000 customers throughout Wyoming. Black Hills Energy (formerly Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power) serves approximately 42,000 electric customers and 40,000 natural gas customers in the greater Cheyenne, Wyoming area.  Other customers are served by either municipal utilities or rural electric cooperatives. Black Hills Energy is the largest operating natural gas utility, serving 73,000 customers in Wyoming, while Dominion Energy (formerly Questar Gas Company) serves approximately 27,000 customers in Wyoming.
